I wonder if my behavior would be considered rational or not? I tend to avoid any link that has been returned due to a paid link. If I find that a paid link is indeed of interest to me, I do not click on the link but instead re-type the URL in a different window so as not to reward the company or the search engine. Doleing it out often didn't do all that much good but withholding it often worked wonders. "Art"? I believe it was Grace Kelly who asked "But what about art?" and received the response "Art who?". The effort of late has been to remove individualistic traces of art and replace it with rigid rules of engineering. From the old CASE (Computer Assisted Software Engineering) to more modern efforts, the bean-counters and pencil-pushers want regimentation, not art. Guidelines, Evidence Based Medicine, Protocols, Treatment Plans, Pathways, Miranda Warnings, ... its all gone to rigid rules that seek to eliminate art.
